Sampling Moses

So I took some neo-soul and gospel piano lessons last weekend and decided I was going to make a track. I also got my skills up on using ableton live, again using youtube and google to fill in the gaps.

Now i’ve half made a track. I was watching Monty Python’s “The Life of Brian” and I heard the strings in the background of one of the scenes (They were doing a parody about the Sermon on the Mount) and thought I could do something with them… So I dug out the original 10 commandments with Charlton Heston soundtrack and chopped up some strings and harps. I mapped a whole lot of vocal samples to my Trigger Finger (it’s like a USB MPC) and ran them over the top of the beat. To top it off, I added a piano solo that I randomly jammed out using a chime like instrument…

It still needs a lot of work but here’s how it turned out:
