Walking in LA

Last Week my friend Scott and I went shopping around the La Brea area in LA. We started at Scout which is a boutique that sells men and womens apparel, old and new, and they even carry their own line of clothing.

After Scout, we walked over to South Williard which is a men’s boutique. They carry brands there such as Band of Outsiders, APC, and notebooks by a japanese brand Postalco.

Then we drove over to American Rag, the designer superstore. Shoes, denim, dresses galore.

After spending a bunch of time there, we went to Opening Ceremony. OMG!!!! This place is the most amazing store ever. the entrance is small and discreet. We walked in and it was heaven. Two floors and over 6 rooms of fashion heaven. Everything here is divine. Each room has different lines of underground and designer labels. There were many more rooms upstairs, but unfortunately we got there at 6:30om when they closed at 7pm, so I only got to quickly browse the store. But, i did notice that there was a section for Topshop up there. I ended up with a dress by White trumpet. It is the ultimate black cocktail dress. The cut is mod shift style with triangular cutouts fastened by little mirrored squares. The best thing about Opening Ceremony is that the clothing is high end designer quality, but kind of, sort of, moderately priced.

So after 4 hours of shopping, we worked up an appetite. Across the street was a vegan restaurant called REAL FOODS DAILY (RFD). I had been there once before with my friend Jorge who is vegan. I had breakfast with him and it was delish, so this time I thought it might be nice to eat dinner there. I had the tempeh enchiladas with tofu cheese and tofu sour cream. It was amazing and so flavorful. Scott doesn’t even like vegan food, but he enjoyed his Viva Las Pasta. It was a spinach fetticini with marinara sauce and tempeh meatballs.

After dinner, we went to the Troubadour to see Destroyer. The opening band was a drag. But it was worth the wait. I now know why they call themselves Destroyer. They were killling it!
